A site for everyone
We want everyone to be able to find a home, read our guides and reach us, whatever device or assistance they use.
What we have done
- Readable
- Text and its background meet the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios, on navy and on paper alike, and the text grows with your browser’s text size.
- By keyboard
- Every link, menu, form, filter and photograph viewer can be reached and used with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- For screen readers
- Pages have one main heading and a clear outline, landmarks, labelled form fields and descriptions for photographs. An error in a form is named next to its field.
- Without movement
- If your device asks for less motion, the site stands still: no sections rising, no counting figures, no transitions. Opening films carry no sound.
- Without JavaScript
- Pages, listings and the filters work with JavaScript turned off.
- Checked
- Automated accessibility checks (axe, against WCAG 2.1 A and AA) run on the key pages and forms with every change to the site, alongside tests of the keyboard paths.
Not there yet
- The street map of a listing loads from OpenStreetMap only once you allow it; the illustrated map of Nice beside it needs no permission and has a text description.
- Some older articles may have photographs whose descriptions are short. We add to them as we go.
- Floor plans are images. Ask us and we will describe a plan in words.
